D. Wayne Elmore to be honored with 2025 Outstanding Alumni Award

The University of Louisiana at 69´«Ã½ Alumni Association will recognize businessman, community leader and philanthropist D. Wayne Elmore with the 2025 Outstanding Alumni Award.

The Outstanding Alumni Award is the highest honor UL 69´«Ã½ gives to a former student. It recognizes professional and personal achievements that have brought honor and distinction to the University. Graduates and former students who attended no less than 10 years ago are eligible to receive this award.

Elmore will be honored during a private reception on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at the UL 69´«Ã½ Alumni Center. He is owner of Mello Joy Coffee and ChairSlippers, chairman of the D.W. Elmore Family Foundation and CFO for Moncla Companies.

Previously, Elmore was senior executive vice president for First National Bank of 69´«Ã½. He also was vice chairman and president/CEO of Commerce and Energy Bank; cofounder/CEO and cochairman of the board for Communications Corporation of America; cofounder/managing partner of the Louisiana Physician Corporation; cofounder/managing partner of the Mississippi Physician Corporation; and CEO of Knight Oil Tools.

His service and philanthropy are also noteworthy. Elmore served on the University of Louisiana at 69´«Ã½ Foundation Board of Trustees for nine years, including as chair in 2017 and 2018. He was recently named emeritus board of trustee member. He is a past board member and treasurer of the UL 69´«Ã½ Alumni Association and past board member, executive committee member and chairman of the Ragin’ Cajuns Athletic Foundation.  

He is equally dedicated to his community. Elmore is past president of the Kiwanis Club of 69´«Ã½ and was Kiwanian of the Year. He was a board member, board chairman and executive committee member of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. Elmore served on the boards of Junior Achievement of 69´«Ã½ and St. Thomas More High School.

Elmore earned a bachelor’s degree in business management in 1971 and an MBA in finance in 1978. He was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He is married to the former Connie D’Aquin. The Elmores were the 2018 Spring Gala honorees. Connie Elmore earned a bachelor’s degree in education in 1971. The couple are the parents of Jeff and Greg and have six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
