Dance & Theatre Community Outreach

Art that connects. Education that inspires.

The School of Dance & Theatre at UL 69´«Ã½ is deeply committed to sharing the power of performance with the broader community. Our outreach programs are designed to connect our students and faculty with local schools, organizations, and audiences—creating meaningful access to the performing arts across Acadiana and beyond.

Through workshops, performances, school visits, and public events, we use dance and theatre as tools to educate, engage, and empower.

Dance Outreach & Education

The Dance program extends its reach into the community through creative movement workshops, lecture-demonstrations, and collaborative events with local schools and arts organizations.

Engagement efforts include:

  • Annual State of LA Danse school matinee for area students
  • Movement-based workshops for K–12 physical education and arts programs
  • Faculty- and student-led classes in dance technique and improvisation
  • Guest artist residencies and community masterclasses open to the public

These experiences give students a platform to teach, lead, and build bridges through movement and introduce dance to new audiences.

Theatre in the Community

Our Theatre students and faculty regularly participate in outreach activities that bring live performance and arts education to K–12 students and community partners.

Ongoing and past initiatives include:

  • Touring performances and staged readings at area schools
  • Theatre workshops in acting, voice, and movement for local students
  • Talkbacks and panel discussions following campus productions
  • Student involvement in festivals and public arts programming

Theatre outreach cultivates appreciation for live performance and encourages youth to explore storytelling, teamwork, and self-expression.

Partnerships & Possibilities

We believe the performing arts are essential to a vibrant, creative, and connected community. We're proud to partner with:

  • 69´«Ã½ Parish public and private schools
