What to expect when you join the Pride of Acadiana.
Being part of the Pride of Acadiana means committing to excellence on the field, in rehearsal, and across campus. Below are the expectations and requirements all members follow to ensure a smooth and successful season.
Band Camp (Required)
All members must attend Band Camp in August, held the week before the fall semester begins. This is when you'll:
- Learn the pregame and halftime shows
- Receive your music, uniform, and pep band assignment
- Connect with your section and leadership team
- Prepare for a high-energy season of performances
Rehearsal Schedule (Fall Semester Only)
Once the semester begins, rehearsals are held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 12:15–2:15 p.m.
Sectionals take place during regular Monday rehearsals:
- Colorguard and Percussion meet every Monday
- Brass and Woodwinds alternate each week
Note: There are no evening sectionals during the season.
Course Registration & Credit
As a member of the Pride of Acadiana, you’ll earn academic credit for your participation:
- AMUS 152 – for first- and second-year members
- AMUS 352 – for third-year and above
Be sure to register for the correct course each fall to receive credit and maintain eligibility for scholarships.
Game 69´«Ã½ Expectations
Home football games are full-day commitments for the Pride of Acadiana. On game days, you’ll:
- Attend a stadium rehearsal
- Have time to eat, change, and prepare
- Perform in pre-game, halftime, and post-game events
Final schedules are confirmed once official kickoff times are announced.
Pep Band Participation
In addition to marching band performances, Pride of Acadiana members represent UL 69´«Ã½ at campus and community events through Pep Band appearances.
- Wind and percussion players are assigned to one of three rotating Pep Bands during band camp
- One Pep Band performs at Cajun Walk before every home game
- Pep Bands also appear at special events, parades, and spirit rallies throughout the season
