Strategic Plan

We've got big plans!

We are setting into motion our goals and objectives for the next five years! Along with our implementation of the Honors Program mission, vision, values, and student learning outcomes, we have three main areas of focus that we want to use to drive the Honors Program to the next level.

1. Early and Expansive Recruitment of High-Potential Students

  • We're revamping our marketing and outreach to make sure everyone knows about the awesome things the Honors Program is up to! Additionally, we want to build connections with high schools to make sure students know about us when making decisions about where to attend college.
  • We're constantly working on building a bigger network of donors to bring students the resources they need, including short-term costs associated with participation in the Honors Program.
  • The Honors Program is for everyone who is committed to academic excellence! We're exploring targeted recruitment to make sure every academic department and background is represented.

2. Building a Vibrant Honors Community of Students, Alumni, Faculty, and Staff

  • We're building a very tight-knit Honors staff (we have staff meetings almost every day!) and we want to make sure other members of the Honors community have the ability to work on their own communities.
  • We're working to support each of these groups, who are hard at work building a vibrant Honors Community too:
    • Honors Living Learning Community
    • Honors Faculty Learning Community
    • Honors Alumni Network
  • Additionally, we want to provide more opportunities for student leadership and professional growth.

3. Improving Honors Student Success and Persistence

  • We've got lots of ideas to help Honors students achieve the best outcomes, including:
    • Developing the Honors Advising Network
    • Supporting students through applying to graduate schools
    • Increasing selections of both Honors Equivalent courses and interdisciplinary Honors Courses
    • Establishing an Honors Minor for students
    • Formalizing appeals processes
    • Gathering and analyzing data to ensure our strategies are working
