The Honors Program is a place where curious, driven students can thrive.
Students who do not meet the requirements and feel that the Honors Program might still be a good fit for them are encouraged to submit an appeal. Email honors@louisiana.edu for details.
First-Time Freshmen
Incoming freshmen applications are evaluated based on their high school GPA and standardized test scores. The Honors Program requires students have at least a 3.5 unweighted high school GPA and a 23 composite ACT score or 1130 SAT score.
First-Time Freshmen with Dual Enrollment
The grades you earn through Dual Enrollment become part of your college GPA. You'll still be admitted to the program based on your high school GPA, but please note that your college GPA will be affected by DE grades after your first semester. The program requires that you maintain a cumulative 3.5 college GPA. Depending on the number of DE credits you have and grades you earned in those courses, you may have to earn higher than the 3.5 minimum GPA your first couple of semesters to counteract your initial college GPA.
We're always happy to help students make a plan to raise their GPA and provide academic support! Feel free to reach out if you have questions about your specific situation.
Continuing and Transfer Students
Students applying to the Honors Program after already completing a portion of their degree at the University or transfering from another university are evaluated based on their college GPA. We require a minimum 3.5 college GPA for admission.
Current Honors Students
Once admitted into the Honors Program, students are required to maintain a 3.5 college GPA and work toward fulfilling our requirements.
